An experience specially designed for families with children who want to enjoy adventure, nature, and the extraordinary biodiversity of the Miravalles-Tenorio Biological Corridor.
From the Papagayo Gulf, the journey to the rainforest takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, while from the Gold Coast and Santa Elena Gulf areas, the drive takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Our adventure begins with a stop at a beautiful waterfall located within the tropical dry forest. Here, you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool water and relax surrounded by nature for approximately 30 minutes, if you wish.
We will then continue our journey for approximately one hour until we reach the rainforest, where we will visit an impressive Ceiba tree (Ceiba pentandra), one of Costa Rica’s oldest trees, estimated to be nearly 400 years old.
We will then make a short stop at a public area near Río Celeste, where you can admire its distinctive turquoise-blue color, one of the region’s most remarkable natural attractions. Please keep in mind that the rainforest is a dynamic ecosystem, and weather conditions—especially heavy rainfall—can temporarily affect the river’s coloration.
During this stop, you may also enjoy a tasting of seasonal tropical fruits. By purchasing local produce, you can also help support small farmers and local communities.
Our next activity will be a short 40-minute rainforest hike, perfect for families who want to discover the fascinating biodiversity of this unique ecosystem.
Along the trail, we may observe a variety of bird species, including curassows, toucans, and birds of prey, as well as amphibians such as the famous red-eyed tree frogs. We may also encounter mammals such as monkeys and sloths and, with a little luck, perhaps even a tapir. The rainforest is also home to a fascinating variety of reptiles and other wildlife.
After the hike, we will enjoy a delicious traditional Costa Rican lunch at a local establishment that also features a small butterfly garden, where you can observe some of the beautiful butterfly species found in the region.
To complete our adventure, we will travel approximately five minutes to our final stop for a relaxing and educational experience featuring some of Costa Rica’s most iconic products: sugar cane, chocolate, and coffee.
We will receive a brief introduction to these products and learn about their production processes, walk through the plantations, and enjoy a tasting of these delicious Costa Rican products.
After a day filled with nature, adventure, culture, and authentic Costa Rican flavors, we will begin our journey back to your accommodation.
Optional: stop at a local souvenir Shop.
A wonderful family experience combining nature, adventure, culture, local flavors, and meaningful support for local communities and producers.
